Deity Microphones have been one of the freshest audio makers catering to the indie filmmaking community in the last couple of years.
Back in the Fall of 2018, Deity announced a few on-camera microphones, and now a few months after showing their new Deity Connect wireless audio system for the first time, the company has announced their newest 2.4GHz true diversity dual-channel wireless system is available to pre-order with shipping to commence soon.
Although, exact shipping times have not yet been specified, the pricing and features of the new Deity Connect system really show the commitment of the young company towards creative innovative and affordable audio products for indie filmmakers and content creators.
Deity Connect Highlights
Dual Channel Receiver with Top-Down Ergonomics
Encrypted 24-Bit / 48 kHz Transmission
SMA Antenna Ports
OLED Daylight Display Screens
Input Gain Control at the TX
Adjustable Output Levels
Transmitter with a Low Cut, Limiter, and High-Frequency Boost
The BP-TX (transmitter) is machined out of CNC aluminium for extra durability and longevity. The top of the unit features a SMA antenna connector, a 1/4″ 20 mounting point for the belt clip, and a locking 3.5mm standard microphone input.
One really nice feature here is the daylight bright OLED display, which has a fast refresh rate to give you accurate VU meters in real time. The high resolution of the OLED display allows for the statuses of all the major features to be displayed on the home screen.
The Deity Connect wireless system uses a proprietary protocol that was engineered with several mechanisms to ensure a strong audio link while at the same time co-existing peacefully with other 2.4GHz devices using the same frequency band.
The system uses clever techniques to get around possible interference such as adaptive frequency hopping, which automatically hops before RF interference even happens. At any given time, the BP-TX is hopping between 9 different frequencies.
The Deity Connect system is more than just a transmitter and a receiver link – it’s a bi-directional transceiver system that is always scanning and mapping out the whole 2.4GHz frequency band, coordinating and planning the next 70 frequency hops.
The Deity Connect also uses something called Listen-Before-Talk: which in the event of an interruption, the system adds the audio and data in the next two frequency hops after the ‘bad’ hop.
The DUO-RX of the Deity Connect system has been designed so that the screen, buttons, and antenna all face up in a sound bag so the operator does not need to remove it. And with the USB-C power and audio outputs on the bottom, the cable management can be maximized inside the audio bag.
Deity added dual SMA elbow antennas so no matter how you mount the DUO-RX your external antenna can always be mounted vertically. This quad design gives the Connect a dual true diversity setup across 2x receiver modules.
The kit includes two transmitters, one receiver and all the necessary accessories. The Deity Connect is available to pre-order for $670 from authorised dealers such as B&H.
