Wooden Camera announced their new and redesigned Shoulder Rig v3 back in April, and now the much-awaited and improved rig is shipping.
No stranger to shoulder rigs and other pro camera accessories such as matteboxes and follow focus systems, Wooden Camera has been building a solid reputation for top class pro accessories over the years and their latest Shoulder Rig V3 is no different. Available in either a PRO configuration priced at $995 with a choice of leather or rubber hand grips, or a BASE version for half the price, the new Wooden Camera Shoulder Rig V3 offers a new and improved lightweight design compared to the previous generation.
The Dovetail latch mechanism has also been improved and there is also an integrated kickstand so you can lay down your camera rig on a flat surface when you take it off your shoulder in between takes or while rigging. With the PRO version users also get the benefit of width adjustable telescoping arms, which are not included with the Base model, but hey you do save 50% going with the Base if you feel that the telescoping arms are not really your thing.

Other than that, both versions get you a choice of eithe rubber or leather grip and all other ergonomic improvements. For more details see the features summary below for each version.
From experience, I’d prefer to have my arms positioned lower, to help with fatigue, so the Pro model would suit my style better; but it all depends on your shooting style of course – some prefer to hold the rig as close to the mattebox as possible, even some going old-school and just using the side of the mattebox as handles. In either case, Wooden Camera have you covered.
The Shoulder Rig v3 is based on the ARRI dovetail design making it super-easy and convenient for users to integrate the Wooden Camera Unified baselates and rock various cameras such as Canon C200/C300 II, RED Raven/Gemini etc.
