The Pre-Release Beta enables 12-bit 4K Apple ProRes RAW recording with the Fujifilm GFX100 and Apple ProRes RAW recording up to 120fps with the SIGMA fp. Users can register to download the pre-release beta via the Atomos website.
The Ninja V AtomOS v10.53 Pre-Release Beta will allow Ninja V users to shoot and record in 12-bit 4K ProRes RAW with the flagship Fujifilm GFX100 along with the already available DCI and UHD 4K 4:2:0 10-bit internal video recording. You can request the pre-release beta here.
This pre-release beta firmware will also allow Sigma fp users to shoot in Apple ProRes RAW at up to DCI 4K24p, UHD 4K30p, and Full HD up to 120fps directly from the camera’s full-frame sensor.
That way, the Sigma fp becomes the world’s first mirrorless camera to record RAW over HDMI video in Full HD at 120fps. Along with the Ninja V, this is also the smallest camera combo to record ProRes RAW, opening up a wide range of shooting options. You can request the pre-release beta here.
In addition to the ground-breaking combination of flexibility and performance, Apple ProRes RAW files are smaller than other RAW files, thus simplifying and accelerating file transfer, media management, and archiving in post. Even with the new higher 5.9K resolution, ProRes RAW files can be easily edited on most modern Macs.
As a reference, ProRes RAW is fully supported in Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro along with a plethora of other apps including ASSIMILATE SCRATCH, Colorfront, FilmLight Baselight, and Grass Valley Edius.
