Smartphone camera sliders aren’t a new thing, but Sandmarc’s Cinema Slider has a sturdy, lightweight design which will give mobile filmmakers a durable tool for introducing a little movement in their footage.
Weighing in at 6 1/2 pounds, and coming in at around 15 inches long, the Sandmarc Cinema Slider is made of a combination of aircraft-grade aluminum and carbon fiber, with four adjustable feet.
This design will make it simple for the Cinema Slider to sit level on uneven terrain. There’s even a bubble level indicator on the Slider mount that can be used to adjust the feet to level.

The slider is compact enough to fit into a backpack while being light enough not to weigh down a shooter while out in the field. This makes the Cinema Slider a good option for mobile documentarians.
Sandmarc says that the Cinema Slider is only really compatible with the iPhone, but that seems to largely be an assumption that most mobile filmmakers use the Apple smartphone for content creation.
But since the phone mount for the Cinema Slider is a standard spring lever design, there’s no reason that Android users can’t be invited to the party as well.

The mount also has a cold shoe mount on top, which can be used to attach a video light or even an external microphone. Sandmarc also states that the Slider is compatible with the full measure of accessories from their Sandmarc catalog. Because of course, it will.
Sandmarc also says that the Cinema Slider can be used with action cameras like the GoPro Hero 10 Black, and even mirrorless and DSLR cameras through a standard 1/4-20 mount. There’s also a tripod mount mated to the bottom rail, to adhere to the Cinema Slider and adjust multi-plane movement for horizontal, vertical, and angular travel.
The only real downside of the Cinema Slider is that it’s purely manual in its operation. There’s no motorized motion control to maintain a repeatable slide across the short breadth of the slider. But by the looks of it, it seems to be designed for as smooth a movement as a gentle push of the hand can provide.
The Sandmarc Slider is available for preorder at a retail price of $169. The expected shipping date is in July of 2022.
