Insta360 has designed their new Insta360 One RS with dual Leica cameras and a 1” sensor that can record 6K video in the round. The One RS sensors can also take 21MP 360 still images, all with what the company calls “Impressive dynamic range.”
But the heart of the camera is the Leica optical and digital processors which provide the image quality that the company says will enable creators to take full advantage of what the companies do best.
“ Creators can take advantage of both the camera’s 360 capture capabilities and its dual 1-inch sensors, no longer having to choose between creativity and premium image quality,’ said Matthias Harsch, CEO of Leica Camera AG.

The pair of Leica engineered lenses record full 360-degree panoramic video at 5888×2944 at up to 30 frames per second, or 3040×1520 at up to 50 frames per second.
The camera also has an ISO range of 100-3200 and a bit rate of 120 Mbps. The One RS is also rated for battery life of just over one hour, shooting 6K/30p video.
The software built into the One RS is able to eliminate selfie sticks from the footage, to provide a clean and unobstructed shot of the scene. 360 Reframing enables for moving the focus of the scene at any angle in the 360° spectrum.

For still images, the 6K Raw images are saved in DNG format shot at up to 1/8000th of a second. Meanwhile, for long exposure shots, the One RS can slow the shutter down to up to 120 seconds.
The camera also uses artificial intelligence and automatic exposure bracketing to adjust dynamic range and color saturation.
The Insta360 app can also use AI to make any adjustments after the fact.
There’s also the Shot Lab app, which can use to perform complex editing tasks on One RS images including Cloning, Dolly Zooms, and star trails.

Other features include a microSD slot which the camera records, Bluetooth 5, and 802.11 ac WiFi for wireless connection and uploads. The camera is rated at IPX3 for water resistance to rain and snow, and it can be mounted to just about any helmet, car, or even backpack to capture.
The retail price of the Insta 360 ONE RS 1-inch 360 Edition is $799.99 and comes with One R and one RS core module. There’s also an upgrade bundle for $650, which enables existing One R or RS owners to upgrade their cameras with the 1-inch 360 lenses, battery, and mounting bracket.
