Steadicam has announced the new Steadimate RS Support and counterweight system.
The unit enhances the support, control, and comfort of various commercial-grade gimbals and transforms them into a body-worn stabilizer system that makes it more comfortable and easier for filmmakers to operate.
The Steadimate-RS is designed for use with the Zephyr Vest Kit and supports use with heavier gimbals including the DJI Ronin RS 2, RS 3, and RS 3 Pro.

It uses a durable yoke with a smooth panning bearing design and has a standard 1/2” arm mounting post and 1/4-20 inch mounting threads.
The yoke mounts around the top of the gimbal handle and mounts to the vest or stabilizing arm to help reduce fatigue and provide for x/y stabilization for long-duration shooting.
The Steadimate-RS also has a counterweight system that mounts on the bottom of the gimbal through a slip-free dovetail mount.

There are also 15mm steel rods for mounting up to four half-pound counterweights and four quarter-pound counterweights, which can be adjusted for balance quickly through the device’s T-Slot channels.
Steadicam also touts that the entire system can be set up and adjusted without tools.

The setup offers full pan capability and three-axis stabilization, while simultaneously reducing camera bounce.
The system is available with vest and arms packages including the Aero 15 Arm and Aero Vest Kit, which can support a maximum payload of up to fifteen pounds, or double that through the Aero 30 Arm and Zephyr vest kit.
The vests are adjustable and padded for even greater comfort. The entire system transfers the weight of the rig to the camera operator’s hips to reduce fatigue and extend shooting times.
The retail price of the base Steadimate-RS system is $395, and comes with a mechanical gimbal yoke, balance stud, and weighted base. The two vest kits add the optional vest and stabilizer arm for $1395 in the Aero 15-pound configuration and $2995 in the Zephyr 30-pound configuration.
