DJI Announces the Osmo Pocket 3 with Upgraded Features and a Slick New Rotating Screen

DJI has earlier today announced the Osmo Pocket 3 gimbaled video camera. With a new 1-inch CMOS image sensor and a rotatable 2-inch touchscreen OLED screen, the Osmo Pocket 3 is capable of capturing impressive 4K video at up to 120 frames per second with three-axis image stabilization.

Though the Osmo Pocket 3 has a familiar, iconic design, the camera has been redesigned with an array of new features that support mobile filmmaking with the precision and portability that content creators have come to expect from the Osmo Pocket platform while giving them new tools to create stories from a fresh point of view.

At the heart of the Osmo Pocket 3’s design is a 1-inch CMOS image sensor that provides 10-bit HDR color through D-Log M and HLG modes for up to one billion colors and a higher dynamic range.

The larger processor also enables better low light capturing through the Osmo Pocket 3’s night shots mode and more accurate skin tones no matter the shade.

The Pocket 3’s rotatable 2-inch OLED touchscreen turns the camera on with a simple 90-degree turn and switches between horizontal and vertical video recording.

It provides phase detection, full-pixel fast focusing of objects with a simple touch, while Active Track 6.0 offers multiple object identification and tracking with Face Auto-Detect and Dynamic Framing of subjects as they move through the scene.

The Pocket 3 also has a built-in three-mic array which captures accurate omnidirectional sound while simultaneously reducing wind noise for a more immersive audio experience.

The Pocket 3 also supports the DJI Mic 2 wireless microphone for dual-person recording of vlogs, interviews, and live streams.

Other features of the Osmo Pocket 3 include live streaming, a product showcase mode, and a built-in timecode function to sync video with multiple camera sources in a post-production workflow.

The Osmo Pocket also has a variety of creative modes for capturing new and interesting camera shots. These modes include:

  • SpinShot – smooth camera spin movement up to 180°
  • Motion Lapse – To capture time lapses
  • Digital Zoom – capture up to 4x digital zoom for greater focal length
  • Panorama – sweeping landscapes and scenes with full detail.

The Osmo Pocket also has an impressive, ultra-long operating life providing continuous 4K60 capture of up to 116, or 1080p at up to 166 minutes on a single charge.

An increase of 26 minutes over the Pocket 2. Moreover, with three times faster charging speeds, the Osmo Pocket can reach an 80% charge in as little as 16 minutes.

The Osmo Pocket 3 also works with DJI’s LightCut App for one-tap editing without requiring data transfer to your mobile device.

LightCut offers simple content creation for sharing on social media using artificial intelligence to identify the best scenes and generate a sharable video in 4K.
