Announced back in April this year during NAB in Las Vegas, Sony have now released the latest firmware version 4.0 for their most popular 4K camera – the Sony FS7 and made it available to download. Much like the previous firmware updates for the camera, firmware version 4.0 is also free and it gives users the ability to record in true 24p in 4K XAVC-I alongside a few other exciting new features such as Flexible Spot AF and the ability to quickly change fps when shooting slow-mo by pressing and holding the S&Q button. Sony have been doing a splendid job on continuously updating their hottest selling pro camera just like they promised, despite the fact that the unfortunate events of the Kumamoto earthquake, which hit Japan back in April, has greatly affected sensor production and halted shipments of FS7, FS5’s and some Alpha7 cameras for the foreseeable future. Dealers in the UK are supposedly expecting new shipments in the beginning of August.
